Terms of Hire

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a legally binding agreement to hire a bike box from us.

2. The Service

Bike Box Hire Ireland provides bike box hire from our base in Cork, Ireland. 

3. Bookings

All bookings are subject to availability. The minimum hire period is 7 days. Bookings are confirmed upon successful payment of the deposit (€10)

Your booking is a personal agreement between you and Bike Box Hire Ireland. You may not sublet, transfer, or assign your booking to any third party.

4. Pricing and Payment

EasyFit/TT boxes are charged at €100 per week & €12 for each additional day.

€10 deposit is required at booking, with the remaining amount due on collection. 

5. Collection and Return

Boxes must be collected from and returned to our location is Glounthaune, Cork. Collection time and date is arranged in advance. We will typically make contact at least 7 days before the collection (where applicable) to arrange a time that suits. 

If you fail to collect on the agreed date, no refund will be issued and the box may not be available for later collection.

6. Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for the bike box during the entire hire period. You must:

• Return the box in the same condition as collected, allowing for reasonable wear and tear
• Not modify, damage, or alter the box in any way
• Use the box solely for transporting or storing bicycles
• Ensure your bicycle fits securely inside the box
• Follow all provided instructions regarding use, handling, and storage

7. The Bicycle & E-Bikes

You are responsible for ensuring your bicycle is suitable for the box type you book and fits safely inside. Please clean your bike before packing and remove loose accessories, cycle computers, lights, and valuables not required for transit.

We do not accept electric bikes, or any bicycle fitted with a lithium-ion, in our bike boxes. If you do, we may refuse or end the booking without refund, and you will be liable for any resulting loss, damage, or penalty. 

8. Extending Your Hire

Extending your booking maybe possible, subject to availability of your box. Extensions are charged at the same rate of €12 per day. If you need more time, please contact us as early as possible. 

9. Late Returns

Boxes must be returned by the agreed return date. Late returns will incur a charge of €30 per day. Late returns may affect other customers' bookings. Please contact us immediately if you anticipate a late return.

10. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made more than 14 days before the collection date will receive a full refund. Cancellations made 14 days or less before the collection date are non-refundable. No refunds are issued after the rental period has begun.

11. Damage and Loss

Normal wear and tear from standard use is expected and acceptable. If the box is returned with significant damage, we may charge a damage fee. If the box is lost, stolen, or not returned, you will be liable for the full replacement cost of the box.

You agree to indemnify and hold Bike Box Hire Ireland harmless from any liability, claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use or misuse of the bike box.

12. Insurance & Declared Value

Hire of a bike box does not include insurance for your bicycle. You remain responsible for your own bike at all times, and we strongly recommend you arrange your own insurance covering your bicycle against loss and damage in transit and storage.

13. Liability

Our liability is limited to the hire cost paid, except in cases of gross negligence or wilful misconduct. We are not liable for any damage to your bike, personal belongings, or any consequential losses arising from the use of our service. You are responsible for ensuring your bike is adequately insured for travel.

14. Force Majeure

We are not responsible for any failure or delay in fulfilling our obligations caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, strikes, transport disruptions, pandemics, or other external circumstances.

15. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated terms apply to all bookings made after the posting date. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court of Ireland. We encourage you to contact us first at hello@bikeboxhire.e so we can try to resolve any issue amicably.
